The Earthling Award

Since last winter I have been working on a project called What Happened Was... It is a project based on stories told to me by people in Dublin and Seattle. At listening stations in public spaces in each city, viewers/listeners of the project will be able to hear stories told to them by people in both cities. Free, take-home "story cards" will be available for people so that they have something of the art project to keep for themselves. I am in the process of getting two listening stations built with the money I got from the Earthling Award (something I could not afford to do without funding). Any left over money will go towards the printing of the story cards. I am currently looking for funding to complete the story cards. What I hope to bring to people that experience "What Happened Was...." is as pure a reproduction of the stories as possible, so that listeners feel like the stories are being told directly to them, and that there is some connection made between people within the same city or across the world.
